Electric vehicle manufacturers have explored many cooling technologies, including air cooling, liquid cooling, and phase change materials. Liquid cooling has become the preferred solution for electric vehicle batteries and motors today due to its performance, weight, and size.

In the design of electric motors, thermal efficiency is a very important factor. In most cases, it is the most important factor. The higher the cooling efficiency of the motor, the higher the operating efficiency of the motor. If the temperature of the copper winding increases, the resistance of the winding increases and the efficiency decreases. Bearings and lubrication are also negatively affected by high operating temperatures, therefore, maintaining low temperatures can prolong the lifespan and power of the motor.

 


Achieving High Energy Intensive Batteries

High energy density lithium-ion batteries enable electric vehicles to increase payload capacity and range, while reducing costs - a key factor in the sustained growth of the electric vehicle market.

However, cooling these batteries has become a powerful barrier to further increase their power.
The disadvantage of high-energy density lithium-ion batteries is that they generate more heat on the same surface area as the previous generation batteries, and cooling must be more efficient and uniform.
