Cause Analysis
According to the working environment of the heat sink and the corrosion situation,our technicians' preliminary analysis is Electrolytic Corrosion. Due to an electrolyte and the water between the two metals, aluminum surface is continuously corroded by copper. (Cathode-aluminum / Anode- copper)
When the machine is working, the fan can take away the internal airflow. When the machine turn off, without fan working, internal air cannot flow, hot and cold air condenses into water which will droplets on the heat sink surface and cause corrosion.
Preliminary solution:
Method one: We recommend that the hot and cold areas should be separated. To prevent hot and cold air from condensing into water droplets on the heat sink surface and causing corrosion.
Method two: Can use the same material for the heat sink, all aluminum heat sinks or all copper heat sinks, so as to avoid electrolytic corrosion.
