Thermal Simulation of Water Cooling Plate with Copper Pipe

In this experiment, we will use water cooling plate with copper pipe to conduct a thermal simulation of 1200w led. 

Through the temperature graph, pressure graph, Velocity Vector, etc, you can better see the effect of the water cooling plate with copper pipe in terms of heat dissipation. The experiment will provide two solution.



Design Input

Cooling method: Forced water cooling

Coolant: Pure water

Ambient temp. Ta: 40℃

LED watt loss: 1114W

Max temp: 50-60℃

Design parameter

1. Ambient temp. Ta [°C]: 40C

2. Cabinet temp. Tw [°C]: Unit will be on the top (outside) the cabinet only the glass side will be in the cabinet

3. Cabinet dimension: Unit will be outside the cabinet

4. Power dissipated P[W]: Total Electrical installed power 1500Watt but dissipated around 1200Watt

5. Heat source quantity: Check attached pictures

6. Heat source position and dimension: Check Attached pictures

7. Location of in/outlet water (better to provide system 3D file): Check Attached pictures

8. Accept Max Temp on cold plate [°C]: 50 till 60

9. Installation Hole dimension and position of cold plate: Check the pictures, I have now only 4 holes drawed for assembly the unit the unit till the cabinet. I need a lot of holes for assembly the LED PCB's and Channel Driver and PSU. I want to place alu baseplates to drill all the holes to mount the baseplates I need only a view holes with thread.

10. Liquild Flow rate: _____L/min Depends on what the thermal analysis will tell us what the flow rate must be.

11. Liquid cooling plate Max.size: See Pictures size will be 680x600 but the actual colling area will be 600x540

12. Liquid type: Pure water

13. Temperature of inlet water: Depends on the result of the thermal analysis

14. Temperature of outlet water: Depends on the result of the thermal analysis.

15. Allow Max. pressure of cold plate: Depends on the result of the thermal analysis.
